Bouldering refers to climbing short problems with crash pads instead of ropes. It's the most beginner-friendly style of climbing since the low heights are less daunting, and the only necessary equipment is climbing shoes (and maybe some chalk), which can be rented at the climbing centres.
Bristol is home to four dedicated indoor bouldering gyms:
There are two roped climbing centres in Bristol, both containing a vast variety of lead and top-rope routes. If you want to learn how to climb on a rope and how to belay, the club offers free teaching for all members at our dedicated Redpoint Wednesday sessions - just pay entry!
Socials run every Thursday evening during term time. Favourites include scavenger hunts, karaoke, and the infamous roped pub crawl. Everyone is welcome, so bring a friend or come alone. Hear about upcoming socials on the Events Calendar above, or on Instagram and the WhatsApp.
If you're interested in climbing competitively, no matter your skill level, the club offers plenty of opportunities. This includes BUCS nationals, SWUCCS, and the Warwick University lead comp!
The club offers amazing value courses in first-aid, self-rescue, trad climbing and more, led by fully trained and experienced professionals. Last year we took 17 members to the Cairngorms for a two-day winter skills course, teaching ice axe/crampon use, navigation, and condition assessment.
